BRIGADA ESKWELA 2016
(National Schools Maintenance Week)

“Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos at Handa Mula Kindergarten Hanggang Senior High School”



Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016 – “National Schools Maintenance Week” commonly known as BRIGADA ESKWELA 2016 to be held from May 30-June 4, 2016 with the theme “Tayo Para sa Paaralang Ligtas, Maayos at Handa Mula Kindergarten Hanggang Senior High School”, mandating all public schools in the country to encouraged all education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to this school maintenance effort ensuring that all public school facilities are ready for the school opening in June. 
Pre-Implementation Stage

            A month ahead before the activity, planning, and advocacy meeting was conducted and participated with the faculty, parents, and supportive stakeholders, headed by Mrs. Flordeliza M. Limon, School principal. They tackled different concerns that will make the activity productive. Tasks were designated to faculty members and everyone was encouraged to scout for volunteers and donors of materials needed and labor support during the activity. They agreed to deliver the solicitations to different stakeholders.Many parents, volunteers, and stakeholders of San Jose del Monte Central School took part in the implementation of Brigada Eskwela 2016. They rendered generous assistance in doing minor repairs of school facilities in preparation for the opening of the School Year 2016-2017.
            This 5-day activity was initiated with a caravan participated by all the public schools of the Division of San Jose del Monte headed by Mrs. Germelina H. Pascual, Division Superintendent, followed with a kick-off program at Francisco Elementary School. During the program, many stakeholders were given Certificate of Recognition.
            This activity nurtured the spirit of “Bayanihan” between the partnerships of the school and the community which focused on the minor repairs of desks, arm chairs, windows, doors, ceilings, and pest-ridden parts of cabinets, tables, and organizers were cleaned, repaired, and painted. Volunteers came daily especially the 4Ps beneficiaries to spare their time to support this brigade. Some cleaned the classrooms, school grounds, pulled tall grasses, trimmed branches of trees, and swept the pile of garbage around the school campus. Other volunteers painted the classrooms and some serve as speakers during the 5-day Brigada Eskwela mini-seminars. Some members of 4Ps and stakeholders who were not able to join the activity donated snacks for the participants while other materials like paints, paint brush, nails, brooms, dust pans came from munificent individuals.
            All the participants extended their outmost effort. They tackled the job assigned to them smoothly. Harmonious relationship among the members made their work easier. In this kind of activity, SUCCESS lies in cooperation.
            SJDM Central Brigada Eskwela a powerhouse for unity, cleanliness, and school development. A week – long Brigada Eskwela exersion activity devoted to clean the school surroundings, repair, painting, bush cutting, compost pit making        were considered indispensable, giving attention to the stakeholders’ donation, support, and the gesture of exercising the value of hardwork, respect, and dedication.
Implementation Stage
            On the first day of Brigada Eskwela – participants from different sectors actively participate on the week – long program. Everybody enlightened with the task and information given by the CSJDM SADAC Team.
On the next day, City Disaster Risks Reduction Management presented about Basic Emergency First Responds Training and Seminar/ First Aid.
            The implementation of Brigada Eskwela Program brings good partnership of the school with the potential stakeholders. It was very evident when great number of parents in 4P’s members and other individuals attended the conduct of kick off to the implementation of simultaneous activities.
             PNP SJDM and AFP personalities from Norzagaray Base inspired the teachers, volunteers and parents for repainting walls of classrooms, plant box and desks and trimming as well trees inside the school. Four P’s members shown their perseverance in conducting six days for clean and green in the school premises. And, city councilors and barangays officials repainted grills of plant box and swept/fixed garbages in the school. Human resources would be of great helped for a common good.  It empowering, mechanism with us synergy, trust, respect, hardwork, determination and strong leadership to ensure successful implementation of the program, and to bring everyone and community members to work together to provide a school atmosphere conducive to learning.
             Brigada Eskwela not just end in a week- long activities but it continuously must be exercise, to inspire other people enable them to work harmoniously, and foster Bayanihan spirit among us. It reminds us that we are all players and actors for school development.
            At the heart of all these Brigada Eskwela activities lies the Bayanihan Spirit, Unity and human power – the most important resources in sustaining week-long activities.
